I thought that the board games were fun, but I have played some of them before. I thought that the Chinese yoyo is very fun. You can do a lot of tricks and it helps pass time. I am not really fond of the abacus as I think a calculator or just writing down math could be quicker for me. It’s tough for me to use. I am not really into scripts. The videos are cool, and there of videos of things like dragon dances Calligraphy is .alright, but we don’t really practice writing it as much as I would like too.

July 30, 2009 @ 9:08 amI really like the Chinese checkers, but I haven’t tried the card game yet. The yo-yo-ing is really fun. I can actually catch it the majority of the time!! The abacus is actually pretty easy to learn, and the festivals were very cool. I liked the dragon dance video, and the one with the guy making the noodle. I liked the calligraphy, and the crafts were very very very cool.

July 30, 2009 @ 9:09 amI think the board games were really fun and entertaining. They really helped learn about the topic we were learning about. The video we watched helped me understand the culture and why. It is very helpful. The cooking activities when we made dumplings were very helpful to understand the culture. The role playing was helpful because it helped us use the language and speak it in real situations.

July 30, 2009 @ 9:12 amThe board games were fun, but frustrating and hard. The card game was the best game of all. It had strategy and chance and I like games like that and it was AWSOME! ^_^ the yo-yo was so hard I couldn’t get it to spin or do any tricks!!!!> < the abacus was cool and hard. I wonder how the Chinese people used it every day. The movies we watched was pretty cool. The dragon boat we made was weird because we never got them back. A fun game/activity was the team card game where we each have cards and when a person says a word in Chinese the person with the English word says it and it keeps on going!

July 30, 2009 @ 9:14 amI really liked all of the Chinese culture that we were exposed to, especially the food part. This camp exposed me to a lot more culture than I would have gotten if I took regular Chinese Class. I also believe it exposed us to more than it did last year. I didn’t know that food was such a big deal in China. Another culture activity I enjoyed was the Diablo because it was very fun. I will definitely come back next year.

July 30, 2009 @ 9:16 amPlaying the board games was really fun. The game I really enjoyed the most was the president card. The game Chinese checkers game that we played was that fun. It got really boring after a while, well…. That’s just my opinion on that it could be different
to other people. The Chinese yoyo is pretty fun but I’m not that good at it so I don’t really like it to much. The abacus was really hard for me to figure that out. There are too many beads on there!!! I rather use the calculator than the abacus. Festivals in china are pretty neat they have different festivals on different reasons or stories. Role-playing is a whole different story I didn’t like it all that much…..I mean… I know you have to talk in conversation to learn better but its sometime nerve racking when you mess up and then there’s the awkward silence and you feel very embarrassed, and you feel stupid. Videos are very fun how the Chinese people do there festivals’ and the dragon dance is very entertaining. Calligraphy I didn’t like to much because I was never a big fan of painting or writing Chinese words. Making the food was the best part because you finally get to learn how they make there food and you get to eat them…. That was the best part. It probably is to anyone

July 30, 2009 @ 9:16 amI think all of the things we did in camp were fun. I would say that I probably enjoyed playing on the Chinese yoyo the most. It is a fun thing to do, and you can do it anytime. I have learned some tricks on it, like throwing it, and the coffee grinder. It is a fun sport. And the board games, such as Chinese checkers, are lots of fun as well. Abacus was kind of hard but after a while, I got used to it. We did much more, and it was lots of fun!

July 30, 2009 @ 9:24 amThe cultural activities at the Chinese program to me are really cool, especially the Tai Chi. It was very soothing and I also like the Chinese yoyo and Chinese checkers too. I also think the abacus was very cool, but at first I was very confused until my friends helped me to understand. And I also liked how we did this the cardboard dragon every day before the end of the day and the also had drummers with the dragon, hitting the drums with their hands to the beat. I also like the restaurants we went to like every Friday. And that’s the cultural activities that we did these three weeks and I am planning on coming her a third week

July 30, 2009 @ 9:26 amI thought that the board games were fun, but that maybe we could have talked more about what they had to do with Chinese culture. I didn’t play any card games. The Chinese yo-yo is a great thing to play. It is hard at first, but as you practice A LOT you can really have fun with it and do a lot of really cool tricks. We could have talked about what it had to do with Chinese culture just like the board games. I think that we should have had times just for ping pong and just for yo-yo. I didn’t have a chance to play ping pong. The abacus was okay, but I was kind of bored. I already knew how to use it and I thought that we could have done something new and different from last year considering weare returning students. I don’t think we did any craft work. That is disappointing because I like making crafts and if it was connected with the culture part it could have been great. I loved, loved, loved the calligraphy. I think that the calligraphy was my favorite part. The strokes and the brushes were fun to learn about. What people think is such a complex language is really not that hard. It was based on pictures which is the simplest form of writing. I love it. I thought that this was a really fun experience.
